A Quilt of Valor was presented to Wayne Beierman and five other veterans, at the Minnesota American Legion Fall Conference held in Mahnomen, MN October 21-23.  The Quilts were presented by the Minnesota American Legion and the Comfort for Courage community in Northern Minnesota.  The citation reads “How much we appreciate your service and sacrifice to serve our country and defend its ideals. We are truly grateful.”

“I’m not sure why I received the award. There are so many good veterans who deserve this quilt.” said Mr. Beierman after the ceremony.  “It brought tears to my eyes. It is a warm, comforting feeling to be so honored.”

The quilts are hand made by the Comfort for Courage community, who are mothers, sisters’ wives, and friends of the soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen who serve our country.

Mr. Beierman is an Air Force veteran who served two tours, in multiple southeast Asia countries, during the Vietnam War.  He is the Commander of the Daniel R. Olsen, Eagan American Legion Post 594.
