This is information on the expanded PACT Act that went into place on March 5, 2024, making three new groups of Veterans eligible for VA healthcare years earlier than initially called for when it came out in 2022. This expansion of care means all Veterans who served in the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Global War on Terror, or any other combat zone after 9/11 are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without first applying for benefits. Additionally, Veterans who never deployed but were exposed to toxins or hazards while training or on active duty in the United States are also eligible.

Veterans are encouraged to see if they qualify for care under the PACT Act expansion.  Even if they do not need this care today, they might need it tomorrow, the next day, or 30 years from now. Where can I get help filling out the form and if I have questions?

  • Ask VA to help you fill out the form by calling 1-877-222-VETS (1-877-222-8387).
  • Go to www.va.gov/health-care for information about VA health benefits.
  • Contact the Enrollment Coordinator at your local VA health care facility.
  • Contact a National or State Veterans Service Organization such as the MN Department of American Affairs Claims Office
  • Contact your local County Veterans Service Office
