President Trump and Governor Dayton have issued proclamations to lower the flags to half-staff staff from today through sunset on November 9th.

The Presidential proclamation reads as follows:

Presidential Proclamation Honoring the Victims of the Sutherland Springs, Texas Shooting

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

We are deeply saddened by the shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, which took the lives of more than 25 innocent victims while they were attending church. As we mourn the victims of this unprovoked act of violence, we pray for healing and comfort for all the family members and loved ones who are grieving.

As a mark of respect for the victims of this senseless act of violence perpetrated on November 5, 2017, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, November 9, 2017. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

Governor Dayton Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of the Victims of the Attack in Sutherland Springs, Texas

ST. PAUL, MN – In accordance with a proclamation issued by President Donald Trump, Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all United States flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota. As directed by the President, flags will be flown at half-staff beginning immediately, until sunset on Thursday, November 9, 2017, as a mark of respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

On Sunday, November 5, 2017, a terrible attack on innocent people occurred in Sutherland Springs, Texas, and the victims and their families deserve our honor, respect, and remembrance.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS: On Sunday, November 5, 2017, a terrible act of violence was committed against innocent people in Sutherland Springs, Texas; and

WHEREAS: The victims and their families deserve our honor, respect, and remembrance; and

WHEREAS: The President of the United States of America has lowered United States flags at all public buildings, grounds, and military posts of the Federal Government until sunset on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARK DAYTON, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby order all United States flags and Minnesota flags be flown at halrstaff at all state and federal buildings in the State of Minnesota immediately through sunset on Thursday, November 9, 2017, in memory of the victims of this tragedy.
