The 2019 House Transportation Finance bill designated the U.S. Highway 52 bridge over County Road 42 to be named “Warrant Officer Dennis A. Groth Memorial Bridge.” A dedication event will take place at noon on Sunday, July 14, 2019. The event is planned for St John’s Lutheran Church, 14385 Blaine Ave E, Rosemount, MN 55068
In 1968 at the age of 21, Dennis Groth died in a helicopter crash in the Vietnam jungle. The crash happened moments after the aircraft dropped off a wounded soldier at an area medical facility.
Groth was born on his family’s farm in Rosemount in 1947, graduated from Rosemount High School, and was buried in the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rosemount just blocks from the bridge that will be named in his honor.
