Eagan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 594 has its work cut out for them. The first major project for the newly formed Legion Auxiliary is to supply bed size tie blankets for 2 dozen veterans at the MN Veterans Home in Hastings.  One challenge faced by the unit was procuring quality material at a reasonable cost. After research done by one member yielded the chance for buying material sight unseen from a company north of St. Louis Park, it was agreed that staying local would be a better option.

To that end, an Auxiliary and Eagan Legion Post 594 member visited Joann Fabrics at 7614 150th Street in Apple Valley on March 8th.  The intent was to discuss a partnership with the store to supply the needed material at the most reasonable price. In talking with the supervisor and manager the final price after store given discounts, military discounts and Joann’s running Friends and Family discount the final price was exactly what the Unit needed to get their project up and running.  Joann’s allowed the unit member to select and match the patterns and backing materials to be veteran appropriate. Some patterns even have the stars and stripes and camo fatigue.  The staff at Joann’s provided white-glove treatment to the unit, from discussion, to cutting to check-out.  Special thanks to Lori, Sarah, and Bree for their awesome support and enthusiasm for the project and the veterans it will serve!
