The Opening Ceremony for The Wall That Heals (TWTH) was held at Rahn Elementary School grounds on Thursday, July 21. The Wall That Heals is a scale model of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. It displays more than 58,000 name of the individual service members who died in Vietnam. The Wall was accompanied by a 53 foot trailer that serves as a mobile Education Center.
The Opening Ceremony was well attended.
Keynote speakers included: Don Oren – CEO Dart Transport, Eagan Mayor Michael Maguire, Brad Robb, Brad Robb – Rahn Elementary School Principal, Brigadier General Stefanie Horvath of Eagan, Larry Herke – MN Director of Veterans Affairs. The Daniel R. Olsen Eagan American Legion Post 594 Color Guard presented the Colors and the ceremony Master of Ceremonies was Wayne Beierman, a Vietnam Veteran and Eagan American Legion Post 594 Commander. The Wall That Heals was open from July 20 – 24 and was open 24 hours a day for visitors to view and remember.
The Wall was brought to Eagan by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and transported to Eagan by DART Transport of Eagan.
